Support

There are lots of ways you can support the Society. Of course there is financial support such as donations and sponsorship, but there are many tasks that need doing to ensure the Society’s activities run smoothly.

You can help by putting yourself forward to stand on the committee which meets four times a year, and take on specific role. But also those in organising roles need help – for example the programme secretary would welcome someone who could write a short summary of each talk ready for the newsletter, the secretary would like help in writing committee minutes or the site monitoring coordinator in scanning forms.

At events such as the Heritage Fair or conferences, we have a table which needs staffing by volunteers explaining who we are and what we do.

When field surveys, excavation or finds processing needs doing, helpers are needed. There are documents to transcribe and reports to catalogue. We have a group of volunteers who have been helping for many years, washing bones, measuring glass fragments, labelling aerial photos – a whole range of tasks to support archaeological projects as well as being a valuable learning and social experience.
