Deepcar Mesolithic Site

In 1962 this man Jeffrey Radley excavated a site above the river Don at Deepcar, which revealed thousands of flint tools and waste flakes, as well as stone settings and hearths which suggested one or more temporary camps. This was the first time a habitation site had ever been found in Britain and it has been nationally important ever since.

Sadly Jeff died in an accident in York at the young age of 34, cutting short an already amazing career.
