Sheffield University’s Arts Tower is 60 years old

The iconic Arts Tower has just turned 60 years old. Inside is said to be the world’s largest paternoster lift, a continuously moving lift taking students and staff up and down its 19 floors two at a time.
The Tower was built in the early 1960s, deigned by Gollins, Melvin, Ward & Partners and is Grade II* listed, and refurbished around 2008. The BBC featured its birthday at www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cj0gy7rm74vo
