Newsletters
The Society usually issues three newsletters per year. They contain reviews of recent activities in which members have been involved, including the lecture series and excursions, as well as providing information about the Society’s upcoming events. Early in the year they will share notice of the AGM in March, in late spring they will publicise trips and visits to excavations and in the late summer they will share the coming winter’s talks programme.
There is also a What’s On section, which brings together news of meetings, excursions and events throughout the region that may be of interest to members.
Newsletters are sent out by post to members without the internet, otherwise they will be available here and you will be prompted by email to have a read.

The autumn 2026 newsletter gives an overview of some of the activities going on over the summer – our trips, progress on the Transactions and book, research and events city-wide. And – most important – at the end is the programme of talks for 2026-27.

Our May newsletter gives an account of some of the Society activities, including all the spring talks and visits we have had. There are details of a couple of forthcoming visits and future events by other groups.

The New Year newsletter brings you reviews of our autumn talks as well as our visit to the fascinating Turner Museum of Glass. Updates on the activities of other groups and forthcoming events are followed by reminders to register on the new website and pay your subscription for the coming year if you haven’t already done so. Finally this is the formal announcement of the AGM on 10 March and some of the papers are included here.

The autumn newsletter brings you our programme of talks and news of recent events over the summer. It includes a survey to try and find out why planned trips have generated little interest and invites your suggestions for where you would like to go – please make sure you return it.
